Electrical Engineer
Job Description:
Designs, develops, and reviews electronic or electro-mechanical products, components, or systems requiring the utilization of mechanical, electronic, electrical, or physics principles and their application to specific assignments. Participates in and may be responsible for requirements analysis, preliminary design, and detail design. Tasks may include circuitry development, theoretical calculations, prototyping, packaging, determining reliability quality levels and/or performance, preparation of specifications, material and electronic tests, process studies, and research investigations as required. Will be required to develop interconnection and interfaces of different cabling and harness designs such as rack cabling design, RS 232, RS 422, fiber optic cables and modems, RF, Video cables and MIL connectors. Participates in and may be responsible for material, component, and subcontractor selection. Participates in and may develop plans for hardware and/or software integration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of ten years of engineering experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. System and detail knowledge of engineering, physics, and math principles and practices appropriate to application area. Demonstrated requirements analysis, preliminary design, and detail design skills. Knowledge of computer-aided engineering.
Must be a U.S. citizen. Must either have or be able to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
Skills Needed:
Familiarity with computer architectures, digital and analog video systems design, VME bus architecture, and familiarity with computer networks.
Experience designing, developing and testing electrical systems, preferably in ground station applications.
Personal computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation graphics). Effective written and oral communication skills and proven leadership skills. Individual must be a self starter who is capable of working independently and proactively initiating interactions with other functional groups within the organization.
