Hardware Development Engineer
Job Description:
Candidate will be responsible for:
Design, simulation and implementation of mostly digital circuitry and some analog circuitry.
Development of design documentation.
Selection of active and passive components.
Development of schematics and direction of PCB layout.
Oversee fabrication of PCBs and PCBAs.
Turn-up and debug of electronic circuitry.
Integration of electronic circuitry in telecommunications equipment.
Collaboration with firmware, optical and mechanical engineers on module integration and turn-up.
Development of test plans, execution of tests and documentation of results.
Definition of production tests, transfer of information to manufacturing and production support.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in electrical engineering.
Skills Needed:
Proficiency in digital design and experience with analog design.
Solid and current knowledge of electrical components.
Proficiency in schematic capture (proficiency in Cadence Allegro desirable but not mandatory).
Experience with FPGA design and implementation desirable.
Experience with telecommunications and SONET and Ethernet protocols desirable.
Experience with taking designs through prototype PCB and PCBA builds.
Experience with Visual Basic for test equipment control desirable.
Strong problem solving and failure mode analysis skills.
Good writing and communication skills.
Attention to detail and willingness to produce extensive detailed documentation.
Excellent team working skills.
