Opal Technologies, Inc. (OpalStaff) is a Veteran Owned small business that was founded by Trevor Simm in March of 2002. After working as a recruiter for a couple of staffing firms located on the East Coast, Trevor received an offer to become an in house recruiter for a nationally known aerospace firm. Though he thoroughly enjoyed his time as a corporate recruiter, Trevor was presented with an opportunity few people would pass on in late 2001. He was given the chance to start his own staffing firm. Always a bit of a risk taker, Trevor would not let this opportunity pass him by.
With a few potential clients and a dream, OpalStaff began to flourish almost immediately. Soon, Trevor had to move the operations from his home office to an office in Annapolis, MD. There, he started to build the core team that would help the business grow for years to come. After 2 years in Annapolis, it was time for OpalStaff to expand again and the proximity to both Baltimore and Washington DC made our current home in Millersville, MD seem like a perfect fit to support our clients both locally and across the country. After starting off as a “one man show” in 2002, OpalStaff currently has nine internal employees and 90 consultants nationwide.
In May of 2011, OpalStaff founder and President Trevor Simm was honored to be named as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 Maryland Award finalist.
Why “Opal”?
The opal is the national gemstone of Australia; we chose to include “Opal” in our name to pay homage to the Australian ancestry of our founder, Trevor Simm.
